Initial Teacher Training

Even during these challenging times we are committed to providing our trainees with high quality training. In conjunction with the University of Cumbria we have put together an online programme to ensure the continual professional development of our trainees. This programme consists of virtual seminars conducted by specialist teachers, online meetings with tutors plus a vast amount of online resources. Our trainees are also set regular tasks to undertake all of which are provided with feedback.

We are still recruiting trainees for September 2020/21, interviews have already taken place with more scheduled. The interviews will be conducted via zoom, find out how to apply by visiting out FAQ page within the ITT section of the website.

The restrictions advised by the Government mean that no face to face training can take place and all activity is currently suspended.

We are unable to confirm at this stage whether or not the future events planned will take place. The Government guidance is evolving and being reviewed every 3 weeks.

The next events scheduled are the Middle Leaders Conference on 21st May 2020 and the Senior Leaders Conference in July. A decision will be made and communicated when the advice is updated nearer the time.

School to School Support

Due to the current restrictions on movement and contact laid down by the government as a result of the current pandemic, activity in this area has been put on hold.

Activity with Curious Minds, Primary Futures, Primary Science Quality Mark and the Opportunity Area is suspended pending advice from the government. A decision will be taken about these activities when:

a) schools have returned

b) schools have the capacity to carry out this work.

Any NLE, SLE SLiCE direct deployment is suspended.

The Teaching School Council in recognising the difficult situation that we are in accept that normal teaching school activity will be largely impossible.
